Do You Need to Take Placement Tests?

Try Sample Placement Tests
and learn about Early Placement Testing opportunities available for registered orientation students.

Students take EKU placement tests to:
  • show proficiency of basic skills in English, mathematics, or reading (developmental skills levels at the 090 or 095 level). If you have an ACT score less than 18 in English, less than 19 in mathematics, or less than 20 in reading, you will need to take the developmental proficiency placement test(s).
  • demonstrate skills needed for College Algebra (MAT 107). If you need to take MAT 107 and your ACT Math score is less than 22, you will need to take the MAT 107 placement test.
  • demonstrate skills needed for Mathematical Concepts for Middle and Elementary School Teachers I (MAT 201). If you need to take MAT 201 and you have not met the prerequisite, you will need to take the MAT 201 placement test.

Sample tests are provided to help you understand the types of questions that will be on the exams.
